Versatile Blog Award!

I know, second post of the day, I'm blogger mad today but I'm very excited. I have been awarded the Versatile blog award by both Becca at 100percentunoriginalbeautylover.blogspot.com and Sarah at floralsflowersandallthingsnice.blogspot.com which is so amazing!! Thankyou girls both SO much!!

REVIEW: Carmex Moisture Plus

Heyyyy guys :)

I am Carmex’s biggest fan so when I heard they were releasing a new product last year, excited was an understatement! If you’re not aware of Carmex (though I’m sure you are) it’s simply a super moisturising lip balm that gives a tingling sensation when applied. I have suffered from dry lips since I was little and I find nothing works better than this. The original Carmex comes in either a tube or pot form so always involves getting it on your fingers which can be a slight downfall for some people.

Carmex Moisture Plus is in sleek silver packaging and much more ‘feminine’ looking than the tube/pot and the product twists up like a lipstick so no need for sticky fingers which I love!

One of the main features of Carmex Moisture Plus is that it’s tinted – and you can actually see it! It is available in clear, pink, peach, berry and plum which I think is a really good selection! I purchased the pink and I couldn’t believe the pigmentation, it added such a lovely pink sheen to my lips while keeping them uber moisturised! Overall, I love the packaging, love the product and love the colour!

The best of: Highstreet Nudes

First of all I'd like to just say a mahoosive thankyou to all my followers!! It means so much that you guys take the time to comment and read what I have to say, so thankyou lovelies :)

So after my last post about my favourite nude lipstick I got a few comments asking if I knew any good highstreet nudes and some hadn't found a nude that suited them. So I thought I'd show you guys a few more, all slightly different shades so you can find the perfect nude too!  

 (Natural Collection Lotus, Rimmel Nude Delight, MAC Hue, 17 Beehive)

Natural Collection Lotus: This lipstick is very sheer though it’s definitely buildable. The colour that does appear is a lovely peachy/pink and it just adds a lovely flush of colour to your lips – I loves it! (£1.99)

Rimmel Nude Delight: I purchased this lipstick after trying it on and loving it. I’ve found it’s actually a little too dark for my liking now but combining it with another nude gets the perfect shade. If you have slightly darker skin this would definitely be a gorgeous nude for you as it is peach/beige toned. (£6.29)

MAC Hue: I won’t say too much about this lipstick as my last post was dedicated to it, but basically I’m in love with it. Perfect colour, perfect formulation, well worth the money! (£13.50)

17 Mirror Shine Beehive: This is newer purchase and I LOVE it. The formulation is soo moisturising and glossy. The colour is a light pink and quite sheer but it’s soo prettyyyy. (£4.59)

THE PERFECT NUDE

I don’t know about you, but I love a good nude lipstick. I know they can be seen to make you look a bit 'dead' but I think when you get the right shade it just makes you look quite healthy and fresh faced. A few months ago I purchased the ever talked about MAC Hue. It is unhealthy how much I love this lipstick!! It’s described on the MAC website as a soft pale pink, however on my lips it’s a tad more peachy toned and the glaze finish means its quite glossy looking which I like. I can wear this lipstick during the day with a nice blush for a fresh-faced look or at night with a dramatic eye.

Just a little haul...

This is just a couple of things I’ve picked up in the last week or so I thought you’d like to see :)

17 Mirror Shine Beehive lipstick: I’m sure everyone has heard of this lipstick and I have wanted it for SO long but have never been able to get my hands on it until now! 

Accessorize ring and earrings: I received Accessorize vouchers for Christmas which I hadn’t spent and I’ve been really drawn to big studs and chunky rings lately so I picked these up and LOVE them.

Topshop self-stripe jumper: I’ve had my eye on this top for ages so just decided to go for it when I got paid this month. I love buying really simple pieces and changing them each I time I wear them with accessories and scarfs.

Anatomicals deep cleansing facial mask: I noticed this near the checkout in Topshop and I’ve heard good things about the brand and at just £1 I was sold! I used this mask today so if you’d like to know what I thought about it let me know!

Has anyone else tried any Anatomicals products? I'd love to try more! :)

REVIEW: Sigma Mr Bunny Travel Set

Hi girlies :)

So I got some new brushes a few weeks ago and thought I’d tell you what I think so far! The Sigma Mr Bunny Travel Brush Kith contains 7 synthetic fibre brushes which are vegan friendly and come in a lovely sleek black cylinder case.

 (Large powder F30, Large Angled Contour F40, Foundation F60, Eyeshading E55, Pencil E30, Small Angle E65, Blending E25)

Large Powder F30 – I am in love with this brush. It’s so dense, beautifully soft and I love how much product I can get on this at a time.

Large Angled Contour F40 – This brush is PERFECT for doing your blush/bronzer. As it’s angled it applies the product very naturally along your cheekbones and is good for contouring too.

Foundation F60 – I am obsessed with this brush. Again it is just so darn soft! It feels lovely on your skin and blends foundation perfectly with no streaks.

Eye Shading E55 – This brush is amazing for really packing colour onto your lids!

Tapered Blending E40 – I love blending my eyeshadow and this brush really does the trick as it’s not too dense.

Pencil E30 – I use this brush in my crease which gives good precision and it can be used to apply eyeshadow underneath your eye too – always good to have a multi-task brush!

Small Angle E65 – I use this brush to apply black eyeshadow along my lash line if I don’t want the precision that liquid eyeliner gives and it does the job perfectly!

Blending E25 – This brush came with my set free courtesy of Sigma which was lovely! Its apparently the MAC 217 dupe and it’s lovely. I use this brush if I want a bit more precision when blending or to pack some colour onto my lids.

I love the case that these brushes come in as I can use it at home as a brush holder and then just pop the lid on and put it in my case if I’m travelling - easy peasy! 
(P.s - apologies for the dirty brushes, at least you can see they're used!!)

LUST LIST!

When i make a list of all the things I want why does it always have to be so darn expensive? This is a list of things I am dying to get but currently cannot afford (oh the life of a student...)

Alexander McQueen Ring – I am lusting over this ring MAJORLY. It’s my birthday in May so I will definitely be asking for this! I'm usually not a skulls kinda girl but this ring just screams BUY ME GILLIAN!

Clinique Chubby Stick – As someone that suffers from dry lips these chubby sticks are meant to be amazingly moisturizing while giving some colour to your lips – what more could you ask for?

OPI Rainbow Collection – This nail polish is just sooo purdyy :) I really want this to layer over a nice bright colour for an ultimate bright summer nail!

  

MAC Crème d’nude – I love a nude lippy and this one is just the ultimate nude isn’t it?  I think I need to give in and buy it soon because I've had my eye on it for aaages!

Topshop ear cuff - I’ve loved this style of earring for a while but just haven’t found one I like until I seen this one! I wish my Topshop had it in stock! :(

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator - My skin behaves well overall, but this is meant to be amazing for unclogging pours which I could definitely use! Does anyone know if Liz Earle counters give free samples to try?

The Best Of: Bright Lipsticks

I’m a girl who loves a bit of colour in my life and this is no exception when it comes to lipstick! I’ve always been a bit shy with bright lipsticks but after purchasing a few, I’m obsessed! These are my top 4 which I think add such a nice pop of colour without being too in your face.

 (BarryM 62 Vibrant Pink, Natural Collection Cherry Red, BarryM 146 Dolly Pink, BarryM 153 Pink Ribbon)

As you can see Barry M lipsticks are a favourite of mine, I think the price and pigmentation are fantastic so I would definitely recommend if you’re buying a bright lipstick for the first time.

146 Dolly Pink: This lipstick is definitely my favourite, it's just sooo purdyy. I can wear it during the day or just out for tea to add a bit of colour and it’s amazing in summer when you have a bit of a tan. (This was the lipstick I was wearing in my last FOTD)

Natural Collection Cherry Red: I’ve always been a bit scared of red so I thought I’d buy a cheap lipstick and if I never wore it, who cares! But after purchasing this last month I’m already loving it! The pigmentation in this lipstick is amazing for the price and it’s such a beautiful shade of red. 

 (From top to bottom: 146 Dolly Pink, 153 Pink Ribbon, 62 Vibrant Pink, Cherry Red)

153 Pink Ribbon: This is the latest edition to my collection. I would say this lipstick is more of a coral/red toned pink which I think is a really unique colour. I use this a lot as I can just dab a little on or really go for it for a statement lip!

62 Vibrant Pink: This is definitely the brightest of my lipsticks (and I have to admit I was scared to wear it when I first purchased it.) but after daring to wear it on a night out I now love it! If you’re a bit too scared of this one it adds a lovely flush of pink to your lips if you just lightly dab it on the lips instead of sweeping it on as usual.

REVIEW: Bourjois Healthy Mix

My first review - how exciting! I purchased this foundation a few months ago so I thought I'd give my opinion and let you know what I think :)

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation promises 16 hour radiance, anti-fatigue result and a vitamin rich fruit therapy formula for an even complexion. I think this foundation definitely makes your skin appear brighter and the dewy finish really does make you look more 'bright.' As someone who has a slightly uneven skin tone it evens outs my skin tone beautifully without giving a heavy coverage.  

Although it’s marketed as a gel foundation it’s no different to any liquid formulation. I like that you can put this foundation on your skin and still have plenty of time to blend it before it drys. I'd say it gives a medium coverage although it is buildable and I’ve had so many compliments on my skin while wearing this. It gives a healthy, dewy finish and I only need one pump of this to do my entire face so it definitely goes a long way too - always a plus!!

At £10.99 this foundation is on the more expensive end of high street foundations but I think it's definitely worth it! :)

Holy Grail Products!

Everyone has those items in their makeup bag they that couldn't live without so I thought I'd share what my holy grail products!

First is my much loved MAC pressed blot powder. I only got this powder a few months ago but it has immediately became a product I couldn’t dream of living without! As I student I spent most my life sitting in a hot, stuffy classroom with 30 other teenagers and as I’m prone to oily skin it meant having to touch up several times during the day. After buying this product this is a thing of the past! I pop this on in the morning and it lasts me almost all day. I know its pricey at £17.50 but I promise you its worth every penny!

Next is my trusty Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. This concealer is soo talked about on blogs and youtube but it seriously lives up to all expectations. I used to use Collecion 2000 Illuminating Touch concealer but switched after hearing so much about this one. It suits my skin tone perfectly and lasts all day. Some say its slightly hard to blend which I think may be due to the fact it's oil free, but if you only use as much as you need and a nice brush to blend, it works a treat!

I love to have lengthened eyelashes and as my natural lashes are quite small I need all the help I can get. I first bought eyelash curlers in New York a few years ago and I don’t think I will ever part with them!! I use themeveryday without a doubt and there is a rubber insert which means they don't bend my eyelashes too much. If I’m having a day where I don’t feel like wearing makeup I’ll just use these bad boys and I’m off!

I bought Lipcote after it was recommended by a friend and it has quickly became a staple in my makeup bag. I LOVE wearing lipstick but I hate when you have to constantly have to re-apply during the day. For those who don’t know, Lipcote is basically a lipstick sealer. It looks a bit scary as it smells and looks like nail varnish but you just pop a bit of this on top of your lipstick and it lasts all night! I wore this at New Year and after a 4 course meal and a few too many drinks, I only had to re-apply once! What a treat at only £3.35!

As someone who suffers from dry lips I have tried every lip balm under the sun! I can never leave home without one and Carmex has been an absolute favourite for years now. This is the only balm which I find actually keeps my lips moisturized for a reasonable amount of time and I like that it tingles! I'm also loving that Carmex have now brought out ‘Carmex Moisture Plus’ which is in new slim packaging and in a range of colours to give your lips a subtle tint. I already own the pink one so if you’d like a product review let me know!
